Who Is A Righteous Person?
The Greek and Legal definition of a “Righteous’ Person is one who is legally/technically innocent of breaking any Laws.
There is a deeper however a deeper Hebraic understanding though, of a person called a Tzaddik (Righteous One). In Christianity we might say, A Saint.
The Legal Term is impossible for any person to fulfill, as everyone has broken the broken the Laws established by the King of Kings.
Therefore we have all committed Spiritual Treason on one level or the other.
There is not enough Good Deeds in the world to overcome Spiritual Treason.
There is no Good Behavior or Spiritual Community Service that will let us pay that judgment.
The Prophet Isaiah Chapter 46 Verse 5
“For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteousness is like a filthy garment,
and all of us wither like a leaf,
and our iniquities carry us away, like the wind.“
In Hebrew there are various words for Law Breaking, some meaning to do so Willingly (Intentional Sin), some out of Ignorance (Unintentional Sin), some by Acting (Commission), some by Failure to Act (Omission), some out of uncontrollable impulse/weakness, and some out of Spite and merely because it is against the Law (Wickedness).
All do however comes with consequences, either purely Temporal and in this Life (Cause and Effect) or Spiritual (breached Fellowship), or Eternal (Loss of Reward or removal from the rolls of Kingdom Citizenship from the Book of Life).
Unlike the other “gods” of the Ancient World who left their Nations to guess what pleased and displeased them, The Creator gave His People good Laws that clearly instructed them as to “The Way they should go”.
Deuteronomy Chapter 28 Verse 15
“But if you will not listen to the voice of Adonai your God, to take care to do all His mitzvot and statutes that I am commanding you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you:
Deuteronomy Chapter 28 Verse 1
And if you faithfully obey the voice of Adonai your God, being careful to do all his mitzvot and statutes that I command you today, Adonai your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of Adonai your God.
Thankfully, due to Grace and Faith, The King has simply instructed us to “keep it between the lines”. He allows us the blessing of the Hebraic Understanding of being a “Righteous Person”.
A Righteous Person is defined as a person who appreciates His Forgiveness.
A Righteous Person is not defined as a person who never needed His Forgiveness.
Righteousness is to live with full dependence and faith in Him to help us do so, and set us right when we stray.
The Righteous Person (Tzaddik) is not the one who has never wandered off The Way (HaDerek). The Righteous Person is the one who seeks to once again find the path, when he discovers that he was wandered from the path somewhere in the night.
And as long as we have breathe in our lungs, we can call out for Him to show us The Way.
And set out feet back on the path of Righteousness, even if we went off in a ditch to the Right or the Left in our blindness.
Book Of Joshua Chapter 1 Verse 7
Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success [Or may act wisely] wherever you go.
The Prophet Ezekiel Chapter 3 Verse 20
“Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”
Psalm 86 of King David Verse 5
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
The Testimony of Luke Chapter 15 Verse 10
“Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Yeshua the Kinsman Redeemer
KEEP IT BETWEEN THE LINES by Ricky Van Shelton
He was sitting beside me in the passenger seat
As I looked through the windshield at the quiet little street
He was smiling so proud as he gave me the key
But inside I knew he was as nervous as me
And I said daddy oh daddy
are you sure I know how
Are you sure that I’m ready to drive this car now
He said I’m right here beside you and you’re gonna do fine
All you gotta do is keep it between the lines
‘Cause it’s a long narrow road
Only the good Lord knows
where it leads in the end but you got to begin
So keep your hands on the wheel
believe in the things that are real
Just take your time and keep it between the lines
I was sitting in my chair and sneaking a look at him
Lying on the floor with his coloring book
Then he caught me watching and he climbed on my knee
He said daddy oh daddy would you do one with me
Then I hugged him so tightly as we turned the page
Said I haven’t done this since I was your age
He said I’m right here beside you and you’re gonna do fine
Daddy all you gotta do is keep it between the lines
So we finished the picture and I put him to bed
Got down on my knees and I bowed my head
And I said Father oh Father I feel so alone
Are you sure I can raise him with his mommy gone
Then the answer came back so gentle and low
And words of my daddy from so long ago
Said I’m right here beside you and you’re gonna do fine
All you gotta do is keep it between the lines
So keep your hands on the wheel
believe in the things that are real
Take your time and keep it between the lines
Just take your time and keep it between the lines
Just take your time and keep it between the lines
